Our verdict
The entry F-series for contractors and estates who want Kubota build but cannot stretch to the diesel F3090. Out-front rotary deck is the real benefit, lets you mow under benches and around obstacles in a way no mid-mount can. Vanguard petrol is the trade-off, perfectly fine for under 500 hours a year, less ideal for full commercial routes.
Pros & cons
Pros
- Cheapest way into a Kubota out-front mower
- 4WD across all four wheels for proper banks and slopes
- Vanguard V-twin, agricultural-grade petrol engine
- Out-front deck cuts right up to walls and trees
Cons
- Petrol, not diesel, in a class where diesel is the norm
- Side-discharge or mulch only, no collection box
- Mowing speed lower than a comparable Z-series zero-turn

Buying second-hand
£3500-7500 used. Vanguard hours under 800 are good. Test the 4WD engagement, the front prop shaft can develop play if greasing was skipped. Confirm the deck height-adjust pedal works smoothly without binding. Out-front belt should look dry and tight, not glazed.
