Verdict — which one to buy
Our take
On paper they look comparable on cut width, but the gap is the engine. Honda's GCVx 170 will outlast three SP46s and the resale stays strong because everyone knows it. Pay the premium new or, much smarter, find a used HRX with a clean deck — at £550 it costs about three SP46s and lasts about ten.
