Our verdict
The largest petrol zero-turn Kubota sell in the UK and the natural choice for landscape contractors who do not want to commit to diesel servicing. Kawasaki FX801V is reckoned to be the smoothest of the FX line, the deck is genuinely commercial, and the suspension seat earns its keep after the first 3-hour run. Worth a hard look against the ZD1211 if your routes justify diesel.
Pros & cons
Pros
- Kawasaki FX801V, the top commercial petrol V-twin in production
- 152cm pro-grade deck with replaceable spindles
- Suspension seat fitted as standard
- Hydro-Gear ZT-5400 transmissions for daily 8-hour use
Cons
- Properly commercial money for petrol
- Heavier than the Z421 on soft ground
- Diesel ZD1211 covers similar acreage for similar money

Buying second-hand
£5000-9000 used. FX801V hours under 1200 are excellent for this class. Confirm the seat air-suspension is functional, replacements are £400. Deck weld inspection from underneath is essential on any zero-turn over £6000, look for cracks at the spindle mounts.
