Our verdict
The bottom line
Mountfield's answer to the Honda HRX 476 at half the price. Specs look identical on paper — variable-speed SP, rear roller, 48cm cut. The engine is the gap. If you cycle mowers every 7 years, this works out cheaper than a Honda. Beyond 10 years, the Honda wins.
Pros & cons

Used-market tip
£200–340 used. V-Drive cable slipping under load is the #1 fault — test it on an incline. Roller bearings should turn freely. Honda owners shopping used would walk past this; Mountfield converts will love it. £220 with full service history is the sweet spot.
Where to look: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are usually 20–30% cheaper than eBay UK for petrol mowers because most sellers want local pickup. eBay tends to win on cordless and electric (lighter, easier to ship). Always insist on a starting demonstration before paying.
